Jayne breathed in relief as Kat entered the doorway. He waited for the man to come in. He fairly assured that any red-blooded male would follow Kat to hell and back, especially in that gettup. When the pervert finally did, he used a sharp blow to the lower part of the neck to knock him out. The big lump of a male just plopped to the ground. "That was easy. Man must not be too tough." He hefted the male up and laid the guy on the leather chair next to the desk. Jayne uses the drapery ties to bind the man to the chair. They're thick and strong so they should hold him down for a while.
"Ugh..Ugly little hornpecker, ain't he?" He went back to the door and peered outside to see if anyone might have followed their little friend out here. The coast was clear. Jayne took a heavy chair and planted right underneath the doorknobs to jam it. "You think we should wake him just yet?"
Kaylee could see the panic is his eyes. "Simon?" She walked to him, tilting his chin to make him meet her gaze."I know we're different in a lot of ways. You was raised to be all proper and I was raised to go with your heart." She rested his hand against her chest, letting him feel how it beat hard...just for him. "This is where my heart has been leading me." She leaned in and kissed him.

Kat cringed as the man hit the ground. "bigger they are the harder they fall." she gave a grin and went to work on her corset as Jayne tied the man down. She grabbed the bottom piece of fabric holding all that metal banding in and ripped it clean off before taking the corset off entirely and laying it on the table. With the bottom fabric gone she had access to not the traditional boning of a corset, but sharp pointed pieces. Knives, large ones.
She managed to pull four of them free, the rest were actual boning for the corset. She handed two to Jayne and stuffed one in the binding around her legs attached to those sandals. She smiled at Jayne, at his surprised expression. "Why did you think I made such a big deal about it?" She patted his back and moved toward the man tied to down. She smiled on her way, grabbing hold of a large book on the table. She brought her arm back to its farthest and with with one swift movement brought it against the mans face with an incredible sound.
He jumped awake and glared at her, regaining her inner most pig. "Listen woman, I like it rough but this is ridiculous. And I won't do it with the big man." She nearly gauged before hitting him with the book again and dropping the object to the floor.
---
Her hand on his face not only made him uncomfortable, but made him want to melt in to the floor. And it wasn't until his hand was upon her breast that he gave that nervous chuckle and pulled his hand away rubbing it as if it burned. And as she leaned in and kissed him, his lips tingled with the feeling. For a moment he kissed back but only for a minute before he pulled back. A pained look spread over his face. "River needs me. She has only gotten worse, everything I have tried has failed." He sighed balling his hands in to fists.
"She is unpredictable, you know that Kaylee." He let his hands relaxed before placing one against the side of her face, taking only a second to observe how soft it was. "I am the only one who can help her, and because of that and the fact that she is my family, I have specific obligations. I can't just abandon her." He wished she could understand. River had been taking up so much of his time, his heart, his energy.
"I do care for you, I do. More than I have the words to express. And maybe when River starts showing improvement..." He sighed. Letting his hand fall away. "damn it all..." he said under his breath as he moved in to kiss her again.

Jayne just grinned at her with this smile reminiscent of the boy he was once. "Woman, if I wasn't crazy about you before, I would be now." He didn't know why it surprised him this much. Kat was very intelligent and resourceful. By golley, he had met his match. He inspected the knives closely, making that grim face he usually did to intimidate the captive. Guess his scruffy looks were good for something.
Jayne's stomach turned. "Wasn't on my list of things to do either. Like I'd ever..." He nearly gagged. "Let's get on with this. Idiot thinks we're here to play." The guy gave him a look of stark terror. He recognized him. Just great. All he needed was another planet with his name being thrown around
He paid close attention to the noises going on outside. Nothing indicated that they had been found out. "Darling, we need to speed this up a bit."
Kaylee's heart thudded out of control. The brief touching ad left her wanting more. "I understand. River needs you.." she began to walk away, a sad look in hr eyes when he leaned in, kissing her again. She felt mildly shocked since it had always been her making the advances.
His soft lips were so gentle as if he was afraid she would break. She could feel that restraint just ebbing away. Kaylee leaned into him, wrapping her arms around his waist. It felt so right to connect like this with him. At times he seemed so distant that it made her ache. They had known each other all this time and he had only just now begun to crack.
"I'll be patient, Simon. Its just that I need..Never mind..I'm being selfish." She looked down at her feet. "Can't help if I want you all to myself." She smiled, touching his cheek. "You're not a bad kisser, doc." She swatted on the butt and walked away.

It wasn't until she pressed the knife against his inner leg, tracing it from his knee to his groin that his eyes finally showed fear. She spoke to that fear. “I'm lookin' for someone, someone you know. Someone you have seen recently.” She rustled through the folds of her dress until she found the picture, she held it up for the man to see. A bravery, and intelligence of some sort showed in the form of a slow creeping smile on his face. “What is he worth to you woman?” Kat's thin face set in a heavy glare. She turned to look at Jayne, holding the knife in her hand so hard her knuckles were going white. “They are going to want through that door very badly in a second baby. Hold them off.” It was near a whisper but she knew that Jayne understood as she turned back to the bound man before her.
Gripping that knife in her hand so tightly it hurt she drew it back far enough that when she plunged it in to the mans leg it went deep. It worked, and he yelled. She withdrew the knife quickly and raised the eyebrow showing the man that the knife was no going further up his leg. “Now...Lets try again. Where is he?” The large mans eyes showed a fine panic setting in, along with the pain. He nearly panted in an effort to find his voice. Poor man had probably never had his authority challenged in his entire life. “He's here. Malachi is here. He is about a mile out of town, camped. South, go south!” Kat fought the shock to keep the shock from her face, but it came anyway. She turned to Jayne, her knees going weak. He was here.
A heavy slam against the door brought her to and she worked with all her might to shove the large solid wood desk in front of the door, Jayne having to help her in the end, before throwing the same book that she had hit the man with out the window. She jumped out it quickly, not landing very gracefully, but she was on her feet quickly. The brunette ran with all her might, a sharp pain growing behind her ribs, until they were clear of the area, and for the moment safe. Only then did she let the previous event and the knowledge that were so close and yet so far away take her. She stumbled on a deep root and that was it. She fell to the ground with a sob. When did the violence end? She had never even hit someone before and here she was stabbing someone?

Jayne took a moment to catch his breath. He reached for Kat as she tripped."I don't see anyone. I think we're alright for now." He looked her over. "Are you alirght?" He knew that knowing that her brother was so close made her excited. This was a good lead.
Someone tapped him on the shoulder. He turned and nearly ran into a flying fist. Jayne flipped the man over, knocking him in the jaw with his fist. The man grunted then looked up at them. There was a familiar glint to his eyes and Jayne smiled. "I told you we needed weapons not backup. I could have killed you, you stupid old codger."
Kat looked confused. Jayne pulled theman up from the ground. "Kat, You remember that contact I told you about inthe shuttle? This is him."
