History: At least 3 paragraphs
Nika grew up in an orphanage on Ariel after her folks were killed in an accident while working in an independent lab to develop weapons to fight reavers, who had been plaguing certain planets. The story sounded very bogus to her relatives since the couple was very careful professionals who took pride in their work. Edward and Mina Malloy were biochemists that specialized in warfare and viral weapons. Nika was a precious child, all eyes and curiosity that would never hurt a living soul. During her time at the orphanage, Nika showed a noticeable talent for healing, taking in baby birds or lost animals and patching them up. The headmistress at the orphanage refused to allow the recruiters to take her. Two nights later her body was found in the disposal unit of a ship leaving the planet.
When she hit eighteen years old, Nika decided to try her hand at medical school, having completed her early education at the age of 12. The planet offered good training and her background was enough to get her in. She was teased and ridiculed quite often due to her professor’s knack for showering her with attention, which she neither needed nor wanted. Nika was very shy, often sitting alone with her books, tending to extra credit work.
One day while sitting in the campus commons area, she was approached by a young man. He was tall, very dark and seemed to be in his early twenties. His serious demeanor was a little unsettling but she stayed to hear what he had to say. His name was Martin Lowe, a soldier for the browncoats who was in need of her help. At first she didn’t believe him, not sure why he’d approach her in such a public way. He laughed, said it wouldn’t be wise for them to shoot him here anyway. He passed her a memory stick, not saying much else but to watch it.
Later that night she plugged in the memory stick and accessed the information inside. It was a video of her father, facing the camera with a grin look on his handsome face. He spoke to her as if she was there, telling her not to believe what she’d been told. That they had refused to help the Alliance with their research and were likely to be killed in some fashion. In one night all the illusions of what the Aliiance was, were shattered for her. That night she left campus, finding Martin waiting for her where they had met that day. For a period of years, Nika was a medic for the Browncoats. Her talent for staying unseen earned her a reputation as a spy for them also, getting needed information to the higher ups. She was nicknamed ‘Ghost’.
Today she is hiding from the outside world on Persephone, trying to stay alive with bounty hunters after her. Someone wants her dead but she has no idea why or if she has what it takes to out run them.

The sun in the distance seemed like a glowing orb just dipping into the woods that were in the distance. Nika’s feet throbbed something fierce, having walked nearly ten miles after that caravan had ditched her. Her sweaty, black hair was still in the usual braid but several tendrils dipped in front of her face. Staying out of sight had been hard lately with the bounty hunters still after her. Whatever they needed her for couldn’t be good and she wasn’t about to stick around to play twenty questions with them. The caravan had picked her up the day before, welcoming her with open arms and hospitality. When the wife of the man running the group got a look at her back by accident, the family panicked and ditched her.
With the sun setting, a cool breeze eased her skin’s scorched feeling. It was time to set up camp again. She took off her pack, easing it to the ground and started pulling out a roll of wire. She used the neighboring trees to set up a primitive alarm in case someone got too close while rested. The fire lit up the small space in those woods, a glow hitting the tree. A pot of coffee was brewing on the fire along with a can of soup for Nika to eat. The smell didn’t attract any animals which she was grateful for. Tonight of all nights, she needed the calm, the stillness to ease the anxiety in her body. Being hunted was not a good feeling, making one fearful of anyone or anything that cam your way.
She looked back on her time with the browncoats, wondering if this course of events really could’ve been predicted. Had she seen too much, spying for them? There was no clear cut answer and she needed one desperately to account for the madness in her life. She may have looked young but the war had aged her mentally, the stress almost too much for her. Martin had passed away trying to save her from the beating that had given her the marks on her back. So much sadness, the death and pain of so many at the hands of Alliance pigs.
